Organised activities are designed to stimulate the senses and through the use of
hands-on experience to encourage the exploration of the surrounding environment.
Learning at the Holly Lodge Centre is fun for all ages and the activities for children
are linked to the National Curriculum.
All sessions are for two hours and activities are particularly adapted
for people with special needs.
Trained volunteers, some of whom are former teachers, act as facilitators
to help visitors get the maximum benefit from
- The natural history of the Park
- Care of the environment
- Wildlife and history walks and trails in the Park
- Learning about the Park (including the work of the Police), the gamekeepers and carpenters
- An introduction to the archaeological/historical landscape of the Park
- An insight into Victorian life in Mrs Sawyer's kitchen
- Reserved access to an area of woodland set aside and managed especially for the centre adjacent
to Pen Ponds which also includes a wheelchair-accessible path and bird hide
- Beginners' photography courses for people with special needs
- Walks in the Isabella Plantation and Pembroke Lodge Gardens.
- Self-guided trails are available.
- Photography walks (particularly for people with learning difficulties).
- A variety of art and craft activities.
- A general introduction to Richmond Park and life behind the scenes at Holly Lodge.
Adult's groups are also very welcome to come and vist.
